So after having to watch my language a bit with the 2 youngest in the room I had to look up the odds myself on that one.

85.7% favorite on the flop when it all went in.
Even after the bad turn card I was still a 70.7 favorite to win.

Anyway, used the Card Player odds calculator & noticed they had an app for the iPhone, so I downloaded it & it's pretty slick. It was free @ the iTunes store, where they did have others & some cost $. Anyone pay for any of those?

Now I can calculate how bad my beats are in live games. Look out!

Win-Win!

Finally played some live poker in Vermont.

While searching the intertubes a while back for possible live games I came across a cool site.

Basically they have several live sites around the state that play weekly, but all are at least an hour away, so I played in the Full Tilt Poker tourney 4 weeks, and won 2 of them to qualify for the end of season live tourney, which I'll call the Vermont State Championship.

Anyway, one of the live sites was hosting a charity fundraiser for the local fire dept. this past Saturday, so I decided to make the 1 hr drive from Montpelier to St. Johnsbury.

The St. Johnsbury Fire Department, Santa’s Fund will be holding a benefit tournament on Saturday, December 11th, at The Chill Zone on 397 Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Registration and $5 Satellites start at 4pm, Tournament starts at 6pm. Cash games, Blackjack and other casino games will be running before and after the tournament.

No Limit Texas Hold’em
$25 buy-in, unlimited re-buys during the first 4 blind levels
2,500 starting chips
20 minute blind levels
Standard WSOP blind schedule (25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 100/200/25, etc.)

We ended up w/20 players, so 2 tables. I bought in for the initial $25, then had to rebuy after losing on the river in a coin flip. After the 4 levels you were allowed to buy 1 or 2 add-ons, so I bought both. Knocked out one guy when I flopped a set of 8's, and another when I was priced in w/a flush draw.

We combined @ 9 players, and the top 4 got paid, but I needed 1st or 2nd to turn a profit! I was the only one of the final 4 that had invested $100, as the others were in for $25, $25, and $55. Went card dead for awhile, but managed to play big stack poker vs some of the small stacks. Once we got heads up we were pretty even, so I offered to chop & we split $475. All for a good cause!

Wish me luck Sunday in the unofficial Vermont State Championship!

Vermont Home Games

Got the family moved last week, so I am officially relocated to Vermont. The closest casino is 2-1/2 hours away. I need to find a decent home game here, so hook me up if you know anyone near Montpelier!

Thanks & Good Luck!

Casino Montreal

Played 1-2 NL @ the Montreal Casino last night. Biggest Casino in Canada. Nice poker room. Was an Ace on the turn or river away from $5700 as part of the Bad Beat Jackpot. One guy flopped quad queens, other guy had AA. Jackpot is over $183,000, so I'd take over $90K for getting my aces cracked!

Oh yea, taking a peak at your cards & seeing R, D, and V instead of K, Q, and J takes a bit getting used to!
