Letting the dog out is +EV over letting the dog shit on the rug.

One good thing about P2N is getting to see the UB.net commercials. They're not necessarily better thann FTP or PS, but new is good!

Normally I like to get my opponents pulled up in PT before I get into any big pots, but I turned 40 into 190+ before I could blink!

OK, now Joe S & Jeff ? are talking about Darvin Moon & Randy Moss........

40,088 most hands in a day! Some dude in Russia was getting busy!!!!

Dog needs in......

I bought positively 5th Street yesterday & apparently James McManus is coming out with a new book.

Dana Workman is kinda cute.

OK standing up w/my $140 @ Carlitos before I donk it off. Will buy in for the min @ another table. I always buy in for the min in PLO. It is +EV.

Joe Huff, that's his name! Anyone heard of him before?

OK, Show 1 is over & I'm gonna roll right into show 2.

Currently w/$49.30 on Rancher. Double up once when I had 3 aces in my hand!

Still waiting on a second table.....

P2N is on once a week for 1/2 hour. Seems about right.

Just won a $5.35 pot on Rancher w/JJJKK. Not much action as someone could have flopped a royal flush in spades.

Doyle is on...... they are previewing the last big event of the year @ Bellagio.

I made my 1st post on 2+2 last night & so far they seem like a bunch on immature 14 year olds.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how good of a pro is Chino Rheem?

On pace to make Iron Man this month for the first time in a few years!

Q879 double suited.....in big blind... shit.... almost saw a flop but the button popped it to $5.50. FOLD.

Dana Workman let her hair down this week & is wearing a hippie shirt.... I give her a 7.

Poker Brat coming up next.

UB.net..... What if poker was like baseball?

Finally a seat opens @ the only 1/2 table running now (I like 9-handed, not 6) Rose Garden (RG). I sit w/$40. Gonna wait for the BB while I load my opponents in PT.

Annie Duke...... 2.

Set of 8's is good on Rancher... up to $54.30.

Money management is key!

Worst year ever for Phil Helmuth. 0 Final tables.

Remember to keep any gaps @ the bottom of your cards.

What if poker was like football?

Just noticed P2N is in HiDef this week. NH

Apparently Jason Mercier is the best YOUNG player in poker right now.

Layne Flack...... drunk.... poker genius.... or both?

JKQQ.......SB........227 flop, 2 hearts....better fold.......

These guys aren't funny, but at least they don't take themselves too seriously.

P2N # 2 is over. Not bad. I'll keep the season pass on it.

Standing up w/$47.30 on Rancher & sitting w/$20 @ .50/1 Maplegrove.

Got 79 FTP's so far. Will stop after I'm over 100.

Currently @ $33 @ RG.... nothing to speak of yet.

Waiting for BB on Maplegrove w/$20.

Lost $20 on Mg as a fav I think..... Yep, 63-37.

Up to $67.10 on RG.

Got my 100 points, so unchecking Auto-post blinds.

OK, done playing, so let's get some totals........

For the Ferguson Challenge I am sitting at a new high of $2,881.09.

I made $150 tonight total on the 4 PLO tables.

This was fun... maybe I'll try it again tomorrow.

Poker2Nite airs Wednesday nights at 11pm ET on FSN. Repeats are available on FSN Thursdays at 4pm and Fridays 11am & 6pm ET. Check your local listings.

November Poker Summary

• Ferguson Challenge Update – I started November with $186.49, and finished with $2494.77. Yes it was a good month! I found a tourney ($5.50 PLHA) that I had some nice successes in, placing 2nd ($95), 1st ($127.19), 1st ($148.85), and 2nd ($139.23). In addition, FTP is running a Holiday Hundred bonus promotion, with a max of $100 bonus available over a 30 day period. Thus, I’ve been playing more cash games, mostly 9-handed PLO. Halfway thru the bonus period I have cleared half the bonus for $50. I was up $130.52 for PLO cash games in November. The big bankroll jump took place when I took 2nd place on November 28th in the Daily Double A ($10 + 2) out of 1,521 players for $1771.97! Sure I got lucky in a few spots along the way, and I would have won 1st place if I hadn’t gotten 4-flushed on the river in our last hand heads up when my A5 hit a 5 on the flop vs his A3. So, what this means for the Ferguson challenge is I started the month being able to buy-in to cash games for $9, and ended the month being able to buy-in for $120! Obviously there is still a long way to go, but November 2009 should provide a big boost in my attempt to complete the Ferguson Challenge.

• I took 2nd place in the November NCPC Event #4, and am still in 1st place with 6 events remaining.

• I played in a $50 tourney @ a former co-workers house the day after Thanksgiving and ended up in a 3-way chop for $265. Gave back some of it afterward though playing $1/$2 Stud.

• On November 6th I checked out the new Hollywood Casino (former Argosy) for the 1st time. I played in a $125 NL Bounty Tournament. I knocked out a couple players for $20 each, but ended up missing on a straight flush draw and didn’t cash. The WPT Poker Room is definitely a lot bigger & nicer than the old one.

• I just completed Gus Hansen’s Every Hand Revealed and am halfway through Daniel Negreanu’s Power Hold’Em Strategy. I would recommend both, as they take different approaches toward improving your game.

End of October Poker Updates

October was the 1st losing month for me since starting the Ferguson challenge. I started the month with $243.21 and ended with $186.49. I think getting above $200 & playing $10 tourneys was what cost me. I didn't play close to the # as cash games in Oct that I did in Sept. As the old saying goes, "Ring games are for making $ and tourneys are for fun".

After 3 NCPC events I am still in 1st place, with a 4th place finish in October. 7 more events to go & the top 3 finishers win WSOP Prize packages.

I am currently 8th in the Goshen Poker League after the 1st 2 events in October.

I am currently reading Power Hold'em Strategy by Daniel Negreanu and Every Hand Revealed by Gus Hansen.

In addition to the WSOP on ESPN, I also watched 2M2MM. In the whole season I think they only talked poker stategy one time, so if they bring it back next year I hope there is more strategy discussion.

Tomorrow (Tue 9/15) is the broadcast of Day 3 of the WSOP Main Event and that is the day that Tony was lucky enough to knock off Jordan Farmar of the LA Lakers. He anticipates that got him a few moments of TV time for the ESPN airing.

Congrats to Tony McGlone WSOP Main Event Cash!

Congrats to Tony McGlone on his World Series of Poker Main Event Cash!!!!! He finished 174 out of 6,494 players in this year's Main Event, busting out yesterday, but winning $36,626. He rivered a flush, but his opponent rivered a full house to knock him out. Tony now has his own profile page!

"It was certainly disappointing when I got knocked out, but after an hour or so to process it and take a few looks at the check - I was OK.

I would expect that you will see me on TV a few times starting with Day 3 coverage. The big Day 3 event was when I knocked LA Laker Jordan Farmar out of the tournament.

Day 5 was also big as I spent a big part of the day sitting with Dan Harrington. I was also at the secondary feature table that evening and played a couple of hands with Antonio 'The Magician' Esfandiari.

All in all it was a great ride with many great memories."

I first met Tony two years ago when we were at the same table during the St. X tourney. We both ended up making the final table. I have since played with Tony at least 4 other times, including twice at his house. Tony lives in Maineville, just a mile from where I went to elementary school K-6.

(Note: You most likely will not find Tony in this picture, but IlliniFan should recognize at least 2 people, and I''m not counting Brad Garrett's girlfriend Isabella. I like her free flowin attitude!)

TUESDAY Evening - We did cab it over to the Hard Rock Casino & played in their 7:00 PM $65 tourney. There were only 11 of us, so it didn't take too long until we were at the Final Table!! I lost most of my chips on an unimproved AK, and ended up 5th. Only the top 3 got paid, and IlliniFan took 2nd. We cabbed it over to the Rio. This was my 1st time seeing the WSOP in person & it was very cool. We passed Phil Hellmuth in the hallway & saw many other pros.

Lusky picked us up and we headed out for some dinner with Virge. I had a couple Fat Tire drafts, and a burger that was good, but so big I could only finish half of it. Lusky dropped us off @ IP and we played some 1-2NL. Never could get much going & ended down probly $100.

WEDNESDAY - IlliniFan was playing in a knockout tourney at Treasure Island, so I played his lunch bitch and got us some Wendy's. I Played in the HORSE tourney @ Binions & went 0 for 3 in Binions Tourneys. Just never really caught any cards, and it's tough making any kind of moves in limit. Used up my Binions points for a free dinner, before catching a cab up to MGM. Sat down with $200 in the 1-2 NL game and again cashed out $500. An older guy from Dayton had bluffed me out of a huge pot earlier when I found a good spot to try to get my $$ back. After an early position raise he bumped it to $45. I looked down @ KK & decided to jam. He went into the tank & I knew I was ahead. This guy had won 2 of the biggest hands by bluffing that I have ever seen. He finally called a flipped over JJ. My KK held up and I won a pot that had over $500 in it. Decided to cash out my winnings & head back to the IP.

Got back to the IP and bought in for $200 @ 1-2 NL. This was the slowest table I have ever played on. There were a couple of drunk Euro's and a cute girl who was flirting with and distracting everyone. Regardless, I somehow still managed to lose ~ $100 over a few hours. Oh well, at least it was entertaining! Went to bed ~ 5:00 AM.

THURSDAY - As usual, IF was up well before me & he won some cash game $$ in the morning before buying into the $330 noon deep stack tourney @ Ceasars. I used up my Total Rewards points for some lunch before I met TuscaloosaJohn and 1Queens Up1 @ 4:00 PM. Not enough mixed game interest @ the IP, so we walked down to the Venetian. Our timing was perfect as they were just starting a 6-12 HORSE game, so we got to sit next to each other. If you haven't been to Las Vegas, the Venetian has one of the largest and nicest poker rooms, so I was happy I got a chance to finally play in it. I finished down $31, which wasn't too bad after I was down more than $150 at one point. This was also my 1st time playing a live HORSE cash game.

We walked over to Ceasar's Palace & railed IF for a bit in his tourney before catching a cab over to the Rio. 1Queens Up1 registered for his Saturday $1500 NL event. I railed Bleu for a bit, as he was nearing the bubble in the $1500 PLO8 event. I saw him get a nice double up. We walked around a bit before sitting down for a couple drinks @ the infamous "hooker bar". 1Queens Up1 was beat from his flight in from Connecticut, so he headed back to the IP for some shut-eye. smokkee was across the bar from us for a bit before we knew it was him & he gave us some great advice on maximizing the $$ from our blogs.

Otis and AlCantHang showed up. Al is one of my top couple favorite poker bloggers & it was nice to finally meet him. Then it was quite the pleasure to meet Pauly, my favotite all-time poker blogger. Pauly hung out with us for a while before duty called & he headed back to his room @ the Gold Coast to write.

TuscaloosaJohn called it a night & I went back & railed Bleu til they stopped ~ 2:00 AM & would resume at noon. I took a cab to the MGM & bought into the 1-2 NL game for $200. There were a couple drunk Euros which made the table quite fun & juicy. I got up to ~ $450 before 2 different guys flopped full houses against me. I took that as a sign to cash out my $350 and bank another winning session @ MGM. I took a cab back to the IP & not a single player in the poker room @ 6:30 AM.

FRIDAY - Got up ~ 3:00 PM. Took the monorail down to MGM. Used up my player points for some lunch & got into a 1-2 NL texas holdem game. Sat down with $200. Had 2 good hands & 1 which could have been. The 1st good hand I had KdQd & raised to $15 on the button after a few limpers. At least one caller & the flop came 910J with two hearts. Villain checked, I bet $20, and he checked raised me another $30. Sweet!!! Unfortunately he didn't have much more behind (maybe $50)& I went ahead & put him all in. He muttered "so sick" when I showed him the flopped nuts. He never showed & didn't suck out on turn & river.

The second good hand I had was KK, when I raised pre-flop, bet the flop, and put a guy all in on the turn & he showed AdKd. Fortunately no A or diamond on the river & I scoop another good pot. The one bad hand was when I flopped a club flush in a raised pot, but the AK8 board paired kings on the turn. When the villain went all-in on the river for $150 it was an easy fold & the table coaxed him into showing his AK for kings full of aces. I definitely lost the minimum on that hand.

I headed over to the Rio ~ 6 and met up with IlliniFan, who had won ~ $800 in a PLO8 $5-$5 game. He got Mike Matusow to sign his FTP jersey & Phil Ivey signed a sweatshirt. The $50K HORSE tourney was underway, so it was very cool to see all the tables up close & just stacked with the top pros. The table we got prime position for on the rail & watched the most included Daniel Negreanu and Patrik Antonius.

I got to see the ending to the final table I had 1st seen the night before. This one will be on ESPN. Bahador Ahmadi won a bracelet in the Mixed Event. He outlasted a final table that included Barry Greenstein and Ylon Schwartz, who I saw go out in 3rd. At least he he got his signed copy of Ace on the River for knocking out Barry. The Jd3d you see in the picture caught up on the turn after it all went in on the flop. The Kd on the turn gave Ahmadi a flush and the bracelet.

I bought a couple souvenirs, said good-bye to Tuscaloosa Johnny, and we headed up to the front of the Rio where Lusky & Bleu picked us up. We headed out to the Red Rock Casino for some dinner & poker. IlliniFan was nice enough to pick up dinner with some of his winnings & I even got a free Lone Star from the waitress when I got the bottle cap puzzle.

We started off playing 4-8 Omaha8, but when the table got short we decided to switch to HORSE. It was a good decision & lots of fun. I ended up down ~ $40. Bleu was the big winner & IlliniFan was the big loser. The highlight was when I hit the case jack on the river to best Illinifan's Kings full of Jacks with the one outer! I love to play poker games! We got back to the IP ~ 4:00 AM.

SATURDAY - After less than 2 hours sleep we checked out of the IP before 7:00 AM & took a cab to McCarren. Security was brutal as usual there. Flight was delayed 30 minutes because the pilot hadn't landed yet on his flight in from somewhere. Got some sleep on the plane & re-read ~ 100 pages of Harrington on Hold'em II.

Took one final bad beat when we couldn't find the ticket when we tried to leave long term parking. Luckily I still had my boarding passes from both flights, but they wouldn't give us a discount with a lost ticket (wtf?).

All in all a very good trip, but it's good to be home!!!

Vegas, Baby, Vegas!!!

We got in Sunday morning in were able to check into the IP. Unloaded our stuff & headed to the Venetian. We were going to play in their regular noon tourney for ~$150, but they have the Deep Stacks going & $1070 would have blown our bankroll a little early. We met up with the Neumann's & they drove us all down to Binions. Dave , Illinifan, and I played in the $160 NL Hold'em Tourney that started @ 2:00 PM. No cashes for the 3 of us & it was off to the $1-$3 PLO8 cash game table. This table rotated PLO & PlO8 every orbit. I ended up $81.

On Monday we had the breakfast of champions @ BK, & then took the monorail up to MGM. I usually have pretty decent luck in the cash games there. We played 1-2 NL Hold'em. I sat down w/$200 & walked away with $500. It's better to be lucky than good, as I hit a 2 outer on the river to win a big pot early to get me rolling. IlliniFan had his Aces cracked by a flopped Royal Flush! With my winnings I paid for the cab down to Binions & we registered for the $210 PLO8 tourney. IlliniFan picked 215 runners. I took the under for a $5 prop bet. We ended up with 207, woot!! I went out ~ 100, while IF managed a nice deep run & cashed in 17th for $310. We've got 10% of each other in tourneys we play together, so I'll take the $9.50!

After I got knocked out of the PLO8 tourney sat down & 1-2NL w/$200 & moved to the PLO8 table with ~ $175. Was up & down when I lost it all on a hand, needing a small club on the river for a scoop & it bricked.

Today after breakfast @ McD's we were back @ the MGM for some more 1-2 NL before the 11:00 AM $65 NL tourney. I ended up $31, and IF got his aces cracked again, this time by a set of 7's. I was bubble boy in the tourney, finishing 11th, when my J10 steal of the blinds attempt was snapped of by KK. IF ended up making the Final Table & agreeing to a 4-way chop where he got $790. Woot! $70 for me, paid for my buy in!!!

Planning on hitting the Hard Rock tonight if we don't grill out w/Virge & Lusky.

Tomorrow is the $210 HORSE tourney @ Binions.

If IF has another nice cash he's gonna play in the $1500 PLO8 WSOP event on Thursday.

Wish us luck the rest of the week!

Thanks,

Boat

Starting The Chris Ferguson Challenge

Today I am officially starting the Chris Ferguson Challenge with $0.27 in my FTP account. My goal is to turn it into $10,000 by July 1st, 2010 and play in the WSOP Main Event. I will update my progress periodically.

If you are not familiar with the Chris Ferguson Challenge, here are the details:

Chris Ferguson Challenge

In September of 2007 Chris finally achieved his $0 to $10,000 goal. Always true to his word, he donated his winnings to the Save the Children Foundation upon reaching the $10K mark.

Here's how he did it:

Starting with nothing but a Full Tilt Poker account, Chris played in Freerolls until he earned enough to graduate to games with real-money buy-ins. From that point on, he adhered to a strict set of guidelines to build up his bankroll:

He never bought into a cash game or a Sit & Go for more than 5 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was at the lowest limits: he was allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less

He didn’t buy into any multi-table tournaments for more than 2 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was $1 MTTs

If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represented more than 10 percent of his total bankroll, he had to leave the game when the blinds reached him

Getting started wasn’t easy. In fact, it took more than seven months of steady play until he got his bankroll to stabilize at about $6.50. Undaunted, Chris maintained his discipline and dedication and continued with his challenge. Then, on November 26th, 2006, Chris made a major breakthrough. He turned a $1 tournament buy-in into $104 in prize money when he finished second in a 683-player tournament. Even with that huge bankroll boost, it still took Chris nine more months of hard work to reach $10K. But because he strictly adhered to the bankroll management strategy that he’d set for himself, Chris achieved his goal the following September.

Pot Limit is the Thinking Man's Game

Won #11 tonight thanks to Daggerzz raising me with air.

“As you begin changing your thinking, start immediately to change your behaviour. Begin to act the part of the person you would like to become. Take action on your behaviour. Too many people want to feel, then take action. This never works.”

...bringing thoughts about change into action is hard. if it does not work, think some more...

Better Late Than Never!

Was a little late tonight due to life events running into OT. Sat down & VogelB5 had already been eliminated along with Indiana818 from the original starting field of 10. Caught a couple people trying to steal my blinds & was able to get back to a workable stack.

Dimmy was bubble boy, as I became a card rack at the right time. Cubbies760 took 3rd place, leaving me & Summo44 to battle it out for this week's anchor. I started with a 2-1 chip lead, but Sumo drew even.

Here were the 2 key hands:

SmBoatDrinks: I was a 43-46 dog, but figured there was fold equity if she missed the flop (which she did) or gave me credit for an 8

As I mentioned, I was a 43-46 dog on the flop, but figured she'd fold if she missed the flop & I had outs if she didn't. So sure, nice catch me!

nzgreen Keeps Snarf from Repeating!

I'm at least glad nz put my chips to good use. I got knocked out in 6th, after getting all in pre-flop, when his AJ hit a J, and my AK was no good. nz had a nice chip lead when he got heads up with ElSnarfGrande. One of them was going to win their second Booze Cruise Title, and nz finished the job!
